Kalkan is a relatively small town but it has well over 100 restaurants and bars for visitors to choose from. There are some fantastic eateries here whether it’s one of the numerous roof terrace restaurants which offer a wonderful view of the town and the lovely bay or one of the harbour-side restaurants where you can dine whilst watching the fishing boats return with the day’s catch in the evening.
Korsan Fish Terrace, Kalkan Restaurants
Long-standing seafood restaurant utilising the roof of the Patara Stone House, the well-run Korsan has maintained its popularity because of its consistently good fish, usually grilled, reasonable (by Kalkan standards) prices and wonderful, sweeping views down over the bay. There are sofas to relax in with a drink and a good choice of modest and vintage wines. There’s live music on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The sister Korsan Meze, lower down the hill, is equally good.
Kalkan Aubergine
A little pricey but a worth while location for a special meal. Aubergine is on the main marina strip with gorgeous views looking out to the sea. When I dined I chose to surf and turf (steak and calamari). The steak was great, but the calamari was slightly overcooked so I wouldn’t say it was worth the upgrade to the surf – just stick with the steak. The champagne cocktails (which are 2-4-1 during happy hour) were fruity and not stingy measures of alcohol either. A platter of delicious and complimentary flat-breads and dips also came with our drinks.
